Holiday Happenings: Poinsettias!

Ho Ho Ho! The Holidays are right around the corner, and so are Poinsettias!

Part of the Euphorbia family, Poinsettias have cultural significance in many different places around the globe. A Mexican Christmas legend says that a child who could not afford to get any gifts, gathered "weeds" instead as that was all she could offer. When she placed the weeds on the church altar they blossomed beautiful red flowers, earning the Poinsettia the name "Flores de Noche Buena". Long before Poinsettias were known as the Christmas Flower, ancient Aztecs used them to make bright red and purple dyes and for some medicinal purposes as well.

Today you'll find Poinsettias in many homes during the Holidays, and you'll be able to find them here at C&S Garden Center starting on November 28th! We look forward to celebrating the Holidays with you all!
